Extinct, Instinct? New Thrill Collins Mixtape

23 Aug

Greets,

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe once said, “The intelligent man finds almost everything ridiculous, the sensible man hardly anything.”

He is considered the supreme genius of modern German literature.

So does genius entail intelligence, or sensibility?

Love,

Thrill Collins

Thrill Collins Presents #TheMoodManual

14 Jun

Good evening, now I see you again.

Hello earth view, sounds far-fetched at the moment…

This is a cold war, do you know what you’re fighting for?

He’s a warrior, a warrior, here’s a little bitch coming at him, your eyes running through my head…

I remember making love on a Sunday.

Do you die in your dreams, I don’t even have them, you check the charts, and start to figure it out.

I’m not stupid, despite how it seems, I know anyone goes any damn place they like…

You don’t own the road, will you take the pain I will give to you again & again?

Suitcases on the sidewalk, all the sun that shines, shines for you.

Post-prime with nowhere left to go on a Sunday afternoon, bright lit blue skies, you’re full of lies.

Far off are perfect days, run away from me baby, runaway…

New Thrill Collins Mixtape – Virgonomics 4.21.11

22 Apr

Greetings my friends,

“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” is a cliche that has been utilized for centuries, beat to death in film and literature, yet it’s one of the most sensible adages one can go by (as are most cliches for that matter, the reason they’ve stuck so long is most are quite truthful).  A perfect example of the aforementioned cliche is the cover of my latest mixtape, “Virgonomics”.  A little back story before I continue.

I buy my Parliaments and Nag Champa frequently from a local convenience store, so as in any repeat “stop n’chat”, the owner of the store and I have become casual friends.  He is of Indian decent and a practicing Hindu, so when I mentioned I travel to Atlanta quite often, he passionately informed me of a “Beautiful Hindu Temple in Atlanta that is a MUST see, some of the most amazing architecture in the US.”

This was about a year ago, and I hadn’t really had the time to check it out.  Until last week.

Once again on the “cycle” where I am waking up ridiculously early no matter what time I go to bed, my goal for the morning of April 14th was to find this Hindu Temple, and soak up its grace.  My good friends 2ew Gunn Ciz and Sam came along with me, and even though none of us are practicing Hindus, we stood in amazement at its allurement.

Here are a few pictures I took, and the cover of “Virgonomics” is also a shot taken that day:

Going back to the prequel cliche, what one perceives as beauty can come in any shape, form, or feeling.  Music is one of those elements that also rings true for this cliche – some may LOVE every song on this mixtape, some may not enjoy any.

“Virgonomics” is my perception of beauty at the moment, and I hope we can share a similar consciousness, at least for 1 hour 47 minutes and 35 seconds :)

Love,

Thrill Collins – thrill@thrillcollins.com
